From the Center for Digital Government - The Greater Austin Area Telecommunications Network was one of nine Texas state government information technology projects that received a "Best of Texas" award in 2002.
GAATN and the other eight projects were selected from more than 30 entries based on collaboration within or across jurisdictional boundaries to improve service to citizens, the public or state employees.

The Texas awards are the first of a "Best of" series from the Center for Digital Government and Government Technology magazine. The program was established to salute state government IT professionals for their dedication, hard work and contributions to better, more responsive and transparent government.
